Pairing Your Nexar Dash Cam

Here's our guide to help you get your Nexar dash cam connected to your phone easily.

Your Nexar dash cam can be paired to a compatible iOS or Android phone through the Nexar app. It allows you to enjoy features like automatic recording, seamlessly create and share clips to friends and family, get your videos backed up to the cloud, and many more.

How Pairing Works

The Nexar app connects to the dash cam through Bluetooth and WIFI. Once paired, the dash cam streams and saves the videos to your phone so you can watch or trim them later.

After the initial pairing, always make sure that the phone’s Bluetooth and WIFI (and Location for Android) are all enabled before starting the engine, and the phone will automatically connect to the dash cam when it turns on.

iPhone and Android With Nexar One

5, 4, 3, 2, 1 All Onboard!

During the whole duration of your Onboarding process we’ll need at least 5 essential functions of your phone in order to ensure seamless experience;

  1. WiFi  - Your phone can connect to one WiFi network at a time. The Nexar app and dash cam won’t connect if you are actively connected to a wireless Carplay, Android Auto, or another WiFi network (such as your car, home, or office WiFi).

Therefore, simply disconnect temporarily from the other WiFi network so you will be able to complete the pairing process seamlessly.

  2. VPN, antivirus apps, and other web security blockers - Third-party security and antivirus apps may have security features that could block the connection between your phone and the dash cam. Kindly turn it off temporarily during the onboarding.

After onboarding is done, you can use Carplay or Android Auto when driving, just make sure your phone's Bluetooth is on so you can retrieve videos from your dash cam at a later time.

  3. Bluetooth - Your Bluetooth network should be enabled from the Settings. For iOS devices, you may tap on ‘Allow New Connections’ option and the toggle will turn on again.

  4. Location Services - For Android, it is important to set it to Allow Always in your app Settings once the app is installed and GPS needs to be enabled.

  5. Cellular Mobile Data - Please make sure to turn it on and avoid using other WiFi networks to connect to the Internet. Firmware update requires your phone to download from the Cloud and install in your dash cam.

Dash cam still not detected?

In case the pairing process continues to fail or the WiFi/Bluetooth network are not visible, then follow the steps below:

  1. Factory reset the dash cam by pressing the Power button 10x.
Important: Factory reset deletes videos from the dash cam. If it’s not your first time pairing, make sure that all their important videos are created as Clips and uploaded to the Cloud before attempting this process.
  2. Restart your phone and follow Steps 1 - 7.

If factory reset and phone restart did not helped, please reach out to Support via the Web Form. In order to get you onboard as soon as possible, kindly include a screenshot of your WiFi and Bluetooth when your dash cam is on, and share what steps you’ve tried. Then one of our Support Specialists will assist you shortly.
