What is Nexar's Rideshare Protect Program?

This program is a safe driving package for Rideshare drivers working within the NYC area. For a monthly fee, drivers receive a 5% discount on their TLC liability insurance. In addition, get the Nexar Pro dash cam with a 64GB memory for a discounted price of $75 (original price $178.95), and the many practical benefits from the Nexar safety features, such as collision reports.

Who is eligible for the discount?

  • Drivers who hold a Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) license and have signed up for the Nexar Rideshare Protect Program
  • Drivers who own cars that they drive professionally. Insurance companies cannot provide a discount to an individual if that individual rents their car from a fleet
  • Drivers must maintain the monthly driving requirements that are mandated by their insurance providers:
    - American Transit - Join American Transit’s free risk management club Excelsior.

    - Hereford - 3 drives over 5 miles in a full calendar month

Which insurance companies provide a discount?

  • Eligible drivers in our Rideshare Protect Program receive a discount on their TLC liability policy
  • Currently, drivers who are insured by either American Transit or Hereford may apply for the insurance discount. 


What information do I need to provide?

​To join the Rideshare Protect Program, you will be required to provide Nexar with the following information:

  • First Name
  • Last Name
  • TLC license number
  • DMV license number
  • VIN
  • The name and details of your Insurance Provider
  • Your Insurance Policy number

Failing to provide one or more of these items might cause you to miss out on the insurance discount.

What should I do if there is a second driver on my policy?

If you have a second driver on your policy, please contact our Insurance Support team through the Nexar app and provide his/her following information:

  • First Name
  • Last Name
  • TLC license number
  • DMV license number
