The interior facing camera is recorded automatically to the dash cam's internal memory. Learn how you can watch and save these videos to the Nexar app.
Nexar’s interior facing camera connects to your Nexar dash cam and allows you to record the inside of your vehicle in 720p quality. The interior facing camera does not have its own SD card, so it uses the dash cam’s SD card while being connected to it.
Videos which are saved on the internal memory and clips created using the Nexar app with the interior facing camera will be saved with audio from inside the vehicle.
How do I retrieve video from the interior facing camera?
Nexar One
After completing a drive with Nexar, remain near your Nexar dash cam and make sure it is powered on. Then complete the following:
- Make sure your phone's Bluetooth and WiFi settings are enabled
- Open the Nexar app
- Go to Videos
- Tap the video you want to save
- Tap Save to cloud
- Swipe the video to the left to switch to interior view
- Trim the segment you want to save
- Tap Save clip
The clip will be saved under the drive it was clipped from on your home screen.
Nexar Pro and NEXC2
After completing a drive with Nexar, remain near your Nexar dash cam. Make sure it is powered on.
Then complete the following:
- Make sure your phone's Bluetooth and WiFi settings are enabled
- Open the Nexar app
- Go to Videos
- Tap the drive from where you want to retrieve your interior camera footage
- Tap the Create Clip button
- Tap the small camera icon from the top right corner of the screen to switch to the interior facing camera
- Select the segment you want to save using the scrolling tool at the bottom of the playback screen
- Tap Create clip
The clip will be saved under the drive it was clipped from on your home screen.
Video is no longer in your dashcam
If you’re receiving this message when attempting to create a clip from your interior camera, it is possible that it was already overwritten by the new videos you have created. Nonetheless, you can still perform playback of the exterior footage that is associated with it.
SD Card capacity
Exterior and Interior Camera videos are equally stored inside the dash cam’s internal memory (click here to find out how to export your drives from it). Below are the estimated number of hours that you can save according to the dash cam’s memory size:

Once the limit has been reached, it will begin to ‘loop record’ once you start a new recording (a new drive). Hence, it is highly advisable to create a clip immediately in case you need the footage from either the exterior or interior camera.

How do I connect the interior facing camera to the dash cam?
For Nexar Pro and NEXC2, plug the power cord into the add-on port on your dash cam. If you have paired the dash cam to your Nexar app, there are no additional steps. For instructions on how to pair to the external facing camera, click here for iOS instructions and here for Android instructions.
For Nexar One, take off the lid on the passenger side of the camera, and attach the interior camera add-on. More details here.
How do I know it’s working?
It’s as easy as plugging the interior facing camera into the add-on port on the dash cam. No lights on the camera will power on. You can check out a preview of your interior camera by heading over to the Nexar app> More> Dash cam> Preview dash cam.
Does it support night vision?
Yes! You will be able to see the interior of your car with no additional lighting needed.
How do I mount the interior facing camera in my car?
For Nexar Pro and NEXC2, the same way you mounted your dash cam! The interior facing camera comes with a small mount that has adhesive tape so that you can mount it to your windshield. You can see what the camera is recording by going to the Nexar app> More> Dash cam> Preview dash cam.
For Nexar One, you just need to attach it to the dash cam, and you're good to go.
Can I watch the interior view while driving?
You can always open the Nexar app to watch the live footage of your dash cam while driving.
For iOS: In the Nexar app, go to Drive and tap the Stream button. Tap the small camera icon from the lower right part of the streaming drawer to switch between road and interior view.
For Android: Open the Nexar app. Go to Drive and tap the Interior view toggle on top of the video drawer to switch to the interior camera view.
Please note that at the end of the drive, only external facing camera videos are automatically saved to the Nexar app. No worries, you can create a manual clip using the instructions above, and save the requested segment to your phone.
Can I watch the interior live stream from my Nexar One while I'm away from the dash cam?
Nexar One dash cams allow you to view the dash cam's live stream remotely. At the moment, only the road view camera is available for remote live streaming.
