Nexar One Battery Saving Mode (Beta)

Understanding the connection between Nexar One battery capacity and your Nexar Connect features

Battery Capacity

A fully charged Nexar One should have a standby time of around 16 hours. If you have a +Connectivity add-on with a Nexar Connect subscription, you will probably want the ability to get real-time parking incident alerts or to live stream remotely. When initiating a Live Stream, the camera "wakes up" and streams for one minute. You can expect to initiate 1-2 Live Streams, depending on the battery status of your Nexar One dash cam.

Sustainable Experience

You did a remote stream and the battery’s out already? Well, you just couldn’t get enough of the Remote Streaming experience? We thought so too!

Don’t worry! We’ve prepared our Nexar-compatible charging accessories. By installing any of these accessories, your dash cam is ensured to be charging smoothly even when you’re not driving so it will have sufficient power to stream directly to the user's phone remotely, anytime anywhere!

Imagine yourself with:

  • No extra charging cables that use the cigarette lighter outlet
  • Increased battery life - ensures continuous charging to your dash cam even when your vehicle is parked or even when you’re not driving
  • Parking Mode - as the battery's capacity is not "limited" and make your parking mode last longer
  • Remote streaming - remote streams will not drain the dash cam's battery while the vehicle is parked for long periods. The dash cam will have sufficient power to stream directly to the user's phone remotely, anytime anywhere.

As soon as these accessories are available, we’ll be sending it to all our Nexar One buyers for a worry-free remote streaming experience.

Battery Saving Mode

If you see a low battery status in the dash cam status bar this means that the battery level has reached 30% and the dash cam has entered Battery Saving Mode.  To avoid complete drainage of the battery, you will not be able to initiate a live stream in order to preserve battery for parking incidents. No worries, your dash cam’s battery will be charged when it's connected to power while you are driving. It could take between 45-95 minutes to reach 100% battery, depending on the state of the battery.

Parking Incidents with Battery Saving Mode

Nexar preserves battery to allow the dash cam to wake up in case of a parking incident. In case of impact, Nexar One will turn on and record a 30 second parking clip. The video will be uploaded to the cloud and you will get a SMS (if you have a +Connectivity add-on and active subscription). If you would like to start a Live Stream after getting this SMS you can head in to the Nexar app and tap Live to initiate a remote stream. This button will be disabled after 5 minutes.

Nexar-compatible Charging accessories

The Nexar Connect experience offers real-time Parking incident notification and Remote Streaming experience so a continuous power source would be needed to sustain these processes.

Don't worry! You can choose any of the following Nexar-compatible charging solutions to make your Nexar Connect experience seamless and sustainable:

  • Hardwiring Kit -  The hardwire kit will provide continuous charging by connecting your dash cam directly to your vehicle's fuse box while protecting your vehicle from any potential battery drain. We recommend professional installation to ensure quality output.
  • OBD adapter - This adapter will plug into a vehicle's OBD port (usually under the steering wheel depending on your vehicle model) to provide constant power to your Nexar One. This will keep your Nexar One charged even when the vehicle is parked and turned off.

Both of these accessories have an automatic shutoff capability that will sense when it may be draining your car's battery and it will power down the dash cam, so you never have to worry.

The Nexar-compatible charging accessories will be delivered to our Nexar One buyers once available.
